Bottle lid flattening

I've squashed some of the lids and sanded the paint off to see what i think... I sort of like the pleated edge that becomes visible, think I'll try to devise a way of using them that shows this off!

Knitting with scales

I've just discovered a most exciting website! You can buy nice metal scales for making scale mail armour- apparently you can also knit with them!

This is how to knit with them! hooray!
If only I had enough time for all of the ideas I come across...

I'm putting together an umbrella for carnival Bentham. This is a little village near Lancaster that has a theme every year for their carnival...this year's theme, you guessed it, is umbrellas! :-)

New rail, and a fun new find

I bought a nice rail, as my existing two rails are extremely flimsy, and ready to cave in at any moment! This will perform better than both those combined! Plus I acquired some fake grass, sure I can make something fun with it!! :-)

Today was the day of press photos for our summer show at the dukes in Lancaster- the hobbit! We had to pull something together for Gandalf with limited time, using material and stock items from the theatre store.think we did okay though! :-) lovely day to be in the park too!

A Magical New World

I have discovered an exciting new world, the world of 'Trashion' (trash fashion). If you are having a dull moment, look it up on Google! Have a browse through the images, and I'm sure it won't take long to see why I'm excited by this genre- oh the amazing things you can make with rubbish!!! hehe

Little bit of a catch up!

Hello there!

If you are reading this, many thanks! It's been so long since I last posted that I don't expect many people to be looking any more! My last few months have been very busy with many things!

In work terms, I've done various bits and pieces at the Dukes for some shows there, and have worked with a colleague on some costumes for a show at Theatre Clwyd in Wales. I am also currently working on a costume for a dance piece inspired by a forest near Arnside- This is not designed by me, but I am working with the designer to try and make her ideas into a reality.

I have been doing lots of walking to slowly destroy my 'Thousand Mile Dress' for charity (see www.facebook.com/thousandmiledress), and have now walked over 180 miles in it! I've seen all weathers and terrains- I wonder what the next 820 miles will bring! The dress is slowly being covered in more scales to represent the money donated- this is also keeping me busy!

The other thing that has absorbed much of my recent time has been working on this years entries for the World of Wearable Art in New Zealand. I haven't been posting any of this stuff online as the competition prefer you not to prior to the judging, but whether or not I make it into the awards show, I'll be sure to eventually post some pictures up here!
