A friend who is redecorating let me have his old laminate floor, which two further friends helped me to install this evening! The surface underneath is a little uneven so it may not last forever, but it's good for now at least. Woohoo! It doesn't cover the whole room sadly, so we put some screws into the end row of panels to stop them all from slipping out. There was even a brief outing for the angle grinder to remove some annoying bolts. Now I'm all ready to make wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses without the risk of fabric going on the stone floor.
