A scale replenishment

Just been replenishing these as I ran out of this colour! Here's also a bonus picture of lovely lake Windermere, where I was this morning before driving back to alter some bridesmaid dresses

Monday 20th... a few days late!

Just realised I never loaded these up on Monday!

Thursday

I started some arm bracers for the reflective outfit... and also I'm still going with the sail scales. They are becoming many in number, which is good!

Tuesday handbag

I'm going to see Mitchell and Kenyan at the Dukes Theatre on Friday evening, and it's an Edwardian dress theme, so it was suggested I wear my Grizedale dress! Not sure how comfortable I will find it for a whole evening, but there's only one way to find out! I've made a handbag today to match the ensemble anyway, so at least it's marginally more practical!

Sunday sewing

I've finished these bits, so can attach them to the bodice next, and move on to the next part, when I've decided what that shall be!

A quick spot of good Friday sewing

I have been busy at the theatre all week, it's been nice to work in a different place for a few days. But with today being a bank holiday the theatre is closed, so I returned to my studio for the morning to get the final bridesmaid ready to be tried on and fitted. I had time to make up a few yellow pointy things that I shall take home to cover with scales too!

Goodbye exhibition!

I packed up my exhibition yesterday. It felt a bit sad, but it's been a really successful run! A massive thank you to everyone who has visited, supported me along the way,and left such wonderful feedback and comments. It's been amazing to have such a positive response, and I'm very proud of what I've achieved!
Now to find a venue in another city, and to think of other ways of getting my work seen!

Finishing the workshop dress, Wednesday

With the help of some volunteers I put the finishing touches on this dress today. The volunteers live near my studio so we set up in the dining room and they got to work gathering rows of pieces which I then machined to the shoulders. They sewed buttons to the front piece which was then machined on the dress to finish it off! Some point soon I will get some proper photos taken... I may put some further buttons on the front in the next few days but otherwise it's all finished.

Tuesday

On Tuesday I finished the arm holes and neck line with binding, and sewed a ribbon down each side of the back. I stitched it at regular intervals to create holes for the lacing to go through.

Tying up some loose ends, Mon 7th April

Today I finished adding scales to the workshop skirt, using pieces that were cut on Saturday. The top still needs finishing though I did a little more on that too. I created a bunch of scales that will be decorated with buttons by a few girls who live near my studio and have kindly offered to help finish the dress! They are also going to cut out some more scales in white and cream which are to be gathered over the shoulders. It's brilliant that they enjoyed Saturday's workshop so much that they wanted to do more!
I've also finished covering the reflective bodice with pieces, so I will need to decide how the rest of that outfit will look.

Saturday workshop, 5th April

Here's a few from the workshop today. Many thanks to everyone who came, you all got stuck into the task of creating scales to cover the skirt and together we did a fantastic job! Just need to finish it off, but we got a long way through today!
